could someone that knows a lot about fixing grub guide me through the steps to boot with a USB drive using grub?

nothing works after you leave the black screen (it seems they call this thing grub)

1. laptop does not boot from usb due to that linux ubuntu kernal bug thing that affected many laptops it seems

2. there's also no common ways to get into bios that i know of (hotkeys do not work likely due to the bug disabling it or something)

what are steps to test/try to boot  with a USB drive using grub?

am not technical

possibly the 'bootloader and/or Linux boot process is misconfigured'

this is the beginning of the error,

starting version 232 ERROR '/dev/disk/by-label/' did not show up after 30 secs

would like responses from those already familiar with this since they are likely the best able to help

this prevents cluttering up the thread

'a severe issue'

you all would know tons more than me

i think there was (and still is ongoing since i dont think it was ever fixed fully yet) tons and tons of problems all related and assocaiated with 1 or 2 bugs or a few, who knows?, all of which affected many ubunutu versions and many lenovos

anyhow its confirm

lenovo, ubutnu derived

so now what?

what are steps to test/try to boot  with a USB drive using grub?

The make and model of your laptop ?  The version of Ubuntu you were trying/have installed ?

This information is not unimportant, please supply it.

I don't think this is a grub issue as much as it is a firmware issue. See the below thread. If you can boot to Ubuntu and then update that may fix the problem. There is a boot disk called SuperGrub 2 that will look for Ubuntu on the HDD and boot using grub on the CD. Once Ubuntu is up do an update.

If you can boot to

the error shows you that you cant boot to the os (or at least i dunno how)

Make and model of PC

Is it Windows 7, 8 or 10?

What Linux operating system are you trying to boot?

What brand and size is the USB stick?

How did you create the bootable USB?

What kind of laptop do you have?

it is regular kind

It is just possible that this topic has wandered a little off topic, ever since about #3 when the #3 post should have included make and model information since the OP forgot to include this in his original post.

I daresay this laptop perhaps even has a keyboard and a trackpad ?
