I have a Toshiba Satellite P850 laptop and it appears that my onboard wireless adapter is no longer working. I am inclined to purchase a wireless USB adapter.

If you agree, what would you recommend.

Thank you for your input. I need this laptop to have wireless capabilities.

Thank you mikey11. That's what I thought. So much easier than getting inside the thing.

We really need some more information.

This computer was originally released for sale in 2012, if your laptop was produced at this time it would now be six years old, getting long in the tooth for a computer.

Have you tried using a Ethernet cable to be sure that it works?

Have you accessed the Device Manager to see if there are any yellow warning icons or red error icons visible?

Have you tried uninstalling the Network Adapter in the Device Manger?  If you do this and then restart the computer a new driver will be installed.

If none of this helps I would suggest going with a wifi dongle.  Newegg has wifi adapters starting as low as $7.00 (US dollars).

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Contrary to what you perceive, it is not to late to show that there are other options which should be considered as well as the knowledge that there are less expensive wifi dongles which work just as well. :thumbup2:

Which is why I chose the wording I used very carefully in my first post......

"just get something like this"

Note the wording "like this"

That was a random example I provided, I never said "BUY THIS" specific item

This is taking this off topic.  I will not be involved in a matter of semantics which doesn't belong in this topic.  You need to get over yourself. :hysterical:

somebody who should get over themself is somebody who comes into a thread and regurgitates everything that has already been said by a previous poster

You need to go back and reread your first post.  You suggested the use of a dongle... period.  I requested information which could throw some light of what is happening with their wifi.  Seriously, get over it.

The OP has been provided with two sensible lines of enquiry and the rest of the topic has drifted way off topic.

This topic is now closed.
