windows XP CPU upgrade

 I was wondering what i could upgrade  an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ to ? The system is Windows XP Professional.

You will need new motherboard for that A8-6410 so better buy totally new machine.

if you have an 939 socket you can install up to amd athlon x2 4800+ or amd athlon fx 60

 

you can find very cheap amd athlon cpu's today for peanuts !

 

fx cpu's cost a little bit more

Yes, socket 939 dual core is great upgrade. Just be sure to buy dual core. And if your CPU is Socket 754, forget that.
