I have two computers, TV and Voip telephone hard wire connected to a Verizon FIOS modem/router.  I had a problem with one computer and contacted MS help for help.  I allowed the tech access to my computer and he solved the problem (we had to reload Firefox), but in doing something else, the computer shut down and when I booted it up, I had no internet connection.  The other computer is working fine.

The machine without internet is running Windows 10  -  I believe it is up-to-date.  I tried the internet troubleshooting; it failed.

Since I am not super computer savvy and since I have to use the second computer to get help and then move to the computer without internet to try various fixes, please provide whatever help you can with as explicit instructions as possible.

Thanks

Type "device manager" into the search box. Find "network adapters". Click on it. Right click on "update driver" . do this on all network adapters present. If this doesn't work, you can try "disabling" your adapters the "enabling" them. Sometimes this fixes it. The last resort is to "uninstall" device and then reboot. Here is a video that might help.

Hard wired ?  I take it this means you are using an ethernet connection.

Device manager on the computer with the non-working ethernet will tell you what ethernet device you have installed. Then, using your second computer (the one with working internet) go to the manufacturer of the first one's web-site and download the ethernet / LAN drivers for that computer. Save the downloads to a memory stick and then return to the first computer. Unisntall the ethernet drivers through Device manager and install the new drivers from the memory stick. This will get you round the problem of not being able to downlnoad anything directly to that computer.
