My new laptop is slow

My new laptop is slow. It freezes when I try to play games, and it's consistently having disk and memory issues (see attached photo). In the screenshot, you'll see that a few tabs in google chrome have me over 80% memory. I don't understand that. I have 4GB RAM and an i3 processor.

 

I've tried limiting startup processes and removing some recommended programs. It hasn't helped much.

 

What can I do? I need help.
