I am using XP Home. Whenever I used to click on a drop menu it would just come and when I was finished it would disappear. Now when I use one it slowly fades on to the screen and when I am finished it slowly fades away. Does anyone know what would cause this?

Are you using the "Custom" menu settings?

No. Even when I start up adaware, that fades slowly onto the screen as well instead of just coming straight up.

See if this helps...

Clear the Use the following fade effect for menus and tooltips check box:

1. Right-click an empty area on your desktop, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Appearance tab.
3. Click Effects.
4. Click to clear the Use the following fade effect for menus and tooltips check box, click OK, and then click OK.

Let us know if that helped.

Thanks for the help. This is weird. The menus seem to be ok now, but when I click on adaware it still slowly fades onto the screen instead of just coming on straight away. It never used to do that.

Glad the menus are ok now.

With Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition...
If it isn't too much of a headache for you(slow dialup), remove it from Add or Remove Programs in your Control Panel. Reboot, and download it again from http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10399602.html , make sure that it is fully updated. See if that helps. Let us know.

Thanks. I tried that and it is still the same. When I click on other programs they come up straight away. It is only adaware that seems to fade in for some reason, but it works ok.
Thanks for your help.

Great. If it becomes a real annoyance for you maybe you would have more of a chance of finding a fix for it in the Lavasoft forums. http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/

If you do, please post back here with the resolution, as it may help others searching for a fix.

Take care.

Did you reboot between the time you uninstalled Adaware and reinstalled it?
