Hi to everyone here. I ran the above scan as the computer was being very slow/unresponsive. It found and hopefully removed 4 things, are they anything to concern? I have no idea!

Welcome to BC...

If you don't recognize those registry changes as something you may have done...then I suggest you run two more scans and

do some cleanup.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the

Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of Google Chrome and Avast.

After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Malwarebytes - Clean Mode

  • Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes
Note: If you have Malwarebytes already installed, you don't need to install it again. Simply start from the next bullet point
  • Once Malwarebytes is installed, launch it and let it update its database. You might have to click on the little arrow by Scan Status in the middle right pane for it to do so
  • Once the database update is complete, click on the Scan tab, then select the Threat Scan button and click on Start Scan
  • Let the scan run, the time required to complete the scan depends of your system and computer specs
  • Once the scan is complete, make sure that the first checkbox at the top is checked (which will automatically check every detected item), then click on the Quarantine Selected button
    • If it asks you to restart your computer to complete the removal, do so
  • Click on Export Summary after the deletion (in the bottom-left corner) and select Copy to Clipboard. Paste the content in your next reply

Download and run the FREE online scanner from Free Virus Scan | Online Virus Scan from ESET | ESET

  • Download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe and save it to your Desktop
  • Double click the icon
  • Check YES, I accept the Terms of Use
  • Click the Start button
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser
  • Click Advanced settings
  • Check the following items

Enable detection of potentially unwanted applications
Remove found threats
Scan archives
Scan for potentially unsafe applications
Enable Anti-Stealth technology

  • Click Start
  • ESET will then download updates and begin scanning your computer
  • If no threats are found simply click Uninstall application on close and hit Finish
  • If threats are found click List of found threats
  • Click Export to text file
  • Save the file on your Desktop as ESET.txt
  • Click Back
  • Review the list of entries and if there are any you want to keep stop and copy/paste the ESET.txt report in your reply for my review
  • If you do not wish to keep any of the entries check Uninstall application on close and Delete quarantined files
  • Click Finish
  • Close the ESET Online Scanner window
  • Copy and paste the contents of ESET.txt in your reply

Thanks for your reply! This will sound like stupid questions but I want to be sure I am following your advice properly.

1. So in CCleaner uncheck all the items in the 'REgistry' tab in CCleaner?

2. Shall I use the link esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download and run ESET? This link downlaods something called 'esetmartininstaller_enu'. The link on the ESET site itself downloads something called 'esetonlinescanner_enu'. Which one shall I use?

Once you have installed CCleaner you will notice a list of items on the left. One of those is a registry cleaning tool. That is what

I suggested that you not use. PER INSTRUCTIONS: After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.

Yes, clicking on the link will start the download of Eset Online Scanner.

Open your Downloads folder and delete all of the installers for CCleaner. This won't affect your CCleaner installation.

If the computer is still running sloooow then do this:

Post the three lists mentioned below using CCleaner.

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Startups. On that page you will see a list of Windows Startups and at the top tabs for each browser and Scheduled Tasks.

At the bottom right of that page you will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste the list of Windows Startups and Scheduled Tasks into your next

post. Please do that.

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Uninstall. On that page you will see a list of programs installed on your computer and at the bottom right of that page you

will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste that list in your next post. Please do that.

I see you have been busy downloading a lot of programs this week. You should rerun AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes and allow them

to remove what they find.

Avast, like other FREE security programs will install adware in your browsers. After running the two scanners.....check your add-ons/ extensions

in all browsers for something like Search Protector, Ask or Avast....disable/ delete them.

One last question if I may: is there anything else, program-wise, I could delete? Windows 10 wants to do an update but there is no disk space.I literally have next to nothing saved/stored as files to get rid of.

Perhaps you have a ton of system restore points. You can delete all but the last one using CCleaner.

To remove System Restore points:
  1. In CCleaner, select the Tools icon at left.
  2. Click System Restore.
  3. Select the System Restore point in the list that you want to remove. Or, use CTRL+Click to select multiple System Restore points.
  4. Click Remove. ...
  5. To remove other System Restore points, repeat steps 3 to 4.

If deleting System Restore points clears enough space...then you should follow the instructions in link below to

limit the space System Restore uses. Suggest limiting to 500 MB to 1 GB.
