Hello Folks! Yes, as the title suggests, I tried playing a 3D BluRay on my usually reliable set up recently, and I got the message,
The disc has recognized that your player and/or display does not support 3D playback or your player firmware requires updating..."

I have updated the drivers on my monitor (Acer HR274H HDMI) and on my graphics card (HD Graphics 4000) and this did not solve the problem.
I was running the disc on PowerDVD 18.

Any suggestions much appreciated...

Thanks,

Herdsmann

Try updating...or uninstalling/reinstalling...PowerDVD.  It has drivers, as does any video/music player, AV, and other programs.

Thanks Louis - I reinstalled PDVD, so it's a Brand new install...

So, I flashed the firmware of the disc player - no joy

I updated the drivers of the disc drive - no joy.

I mounted a 3d movie from the hard drive (to eliminate the disc player)  - no joy

BUT - this monitor has a "fake" 3D setting, which works fine

Hmmmmm
