Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series Windows 10

I had a warning telling me that it was from Microsoft telling me that I had a virus and that I should call a toll free number starting with 877 and I was unable to navigate and click and had to do a hard shutdown.  When I restarted the computer I was able to click off of the emergency page and clicked completely out of the computer.  I checked my settings and found that Bluetooth was turned on.  I never turn Bluetooth on but I have had company that was visiting and they were using my guest account.

I ran Malwarebytes Premium and found no threats.  I tried to do a custom scan and did not have that option on Malwarebytes or on windows defender.

I don't know what to do next, please advise.

Thanking you in advance for your reply, I am

Welcome to BC....

Use CCleaner to remove any of the crimal's ad that may be in browser cache and other temporary files. Many websites

have been exploited by criminals that place these type of ads and occassionally a "legit" ad server will be used to place the ads.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the

Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of Google Chrome and Avast.

After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop. (compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10)

  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan button.
  • When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
