PC not acknwledging a cat5 lead but will see a cat6

Basics BT Homehub 4 router / adsl connect in front of house supplies internet both wired and wireless wiithout issue,


rear of house a tplink router connected by cat6 lead,

tplink set to repeater mode so shows up as the bt homehub 4 via wifi/ethernet to connected devices


wifi dongle on pc = connected but random cut outs (socket errors)

wired to xbox one = connected no issues

wired to pc = nothing as pc doesnt recognize ethernet is plugged in


cat 6 ethernet direct to pc = full connection no issues

any other ethernet to router doesnt even register as plugged in to pc

(tried 5 leads and troubleshooter ect to no avail)


pc optiplex 7010  running fresh copy window 10 pro all up to date and drivers working fine

2nd hdd setup with fresh copy windows 10 pro same issue so not software conflict


any help appreciated
