Depends on for what purposes you want to try them. They're definetely not a scam but from my own experience I can say that they're the best as an additional resource of earning money, not the main one, I mean that becoming really rich with them is a really rare thing and that happens often in case of investing for a long perspective :) Also your profit will be strongly connected with certain strategy you choose, there are so many of them, the most popular ones in this case are trading & buying and mining. The other effective ones are faucets, affiliate marketing, lending, wirting articles about them and many more https://blockonomi.com/how-to-make-money-bitcoin/ , however the first two ones I mentioned above are considered as the most profitable. Trading & buying is cool for fast earning money and mining is better for long perspective investments but in its case is better to choose cloud mining which is based on signing up a contract with a special company. With this strategy you'll save much money for electricity and software/hardware equipment and that'll make your profit better in general. But cloud mining is ok only in case of safe companies with good reputation like Hashnest, Hashflare http://hashflarecode.com/ , Genesis Mining, Eobot etc. , in all other cases there's sadly a great risk of scam so never sign up with an unknown company.
And for all crypptocurrencies changes of their prices are very important and they're fast and unpredictable that's why your profit can vary greatly every month because of that they can't replace totally your main job.

I'm new in crypto, but I think it's getting more and more popular today. After a little research I found info at https://www.valleygames.ca/cryptocurrency-casinos/ about casinos which accept BTC and where players can win some extra cryptocurrency. I want to try some of them one day.
