JC, sorry for the delayed response, had been way. About 2 or 3 months ago I changed the Ethernet cable because the connector had broken. Do you think I need to change it again?

Also I don't know if I mentioned that on XP I wasn't getting any emails where on W7 I do get some, but the Google icon on the toolbar says "a large chunk of emails missing from your inbox". How can I get them back?

I might mention also that even after I changed the Ethernet cable XP still had the same problems. Again I apologize for my long absence. B1

If the problem did not happen after the cable change withing a few weeks I doubt it's the cable. I have run out of ideas, sorry.

In regards to the Email missing I would start a new thread in the Web Browsing / Email Applications. Post what Email application you are using. I wouldn't know how to approach that problem as I never experienced that notice.

Did you ever try a linux distro per my post #58

JC, No I didn't try a linux distro. At 85 years old and with my limited computer knowledge I shied away from tackling it. Burning disks transferring information, etc. processes are beyond my abilities and sure enough know I will mess things up worse than they already are. I guess I'm beyond help and will just have to live with the situation as it is, but I sure thank you, P010, and ji for trying to help me. Thanks again to you all .B1
