Prc Viewer ?

Smitfraud \ mcafee was ran and report states unwanted program was deleted "PRC VIEWER"
does anyone know what this is and if it should have been deleted ?? I dont recall ever seeing anything about it in previous scans ive done ..

If your referring to process.exe, it is part of the smitfruad fix tool and detected by some antivirus programs as a "RiskTool", "Hacking tool, or "Potentially unwanted"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Anti-virus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. See Command Line Process Viewer/Killer/Suspender for Windows NT/2000/XP.

Potentially unwanted does not necessarily mean the file is malware or a bad program. It means it has the potential for being misused by others.

The same can be said about PrcViewer. See [url=http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_137331.htm]here[/u.rl].

PrcViewer...is a generic detection that covers multiple variants of PRCViewer. PRCViewer is a small command line utility that can alter a processes characteristics (Affinity and Priority) and also View, Close, Kill, Suspend and Resume running processes, even when Task Manager access is disabled...
