Have followed advice and now come here

Mail.ru keeps redirecting chrome. I have tried numerous anti malwares and regedits etc to no avail. I've deleted every possible file from everywhere including appdata, services, the registry, through safe mode etc. It's driving me insane!

Save the file as fixlist.txt in the same folder where the Farbar tool is running from.
The location is listed in the 3rd line of the Farbar log you have submitted.

Run FRST and click Fix only once and wait.

The tool will create a log (Fixlog.txt) please post it to your reply.

Reset Chrome...
Open Google Chrome, click on menu icon google-chrome-setting-icon.png or the 3 vertical dots located right side top of the google chrome.
 
Click "Settings" then "Show advanced settings" at the bottom of the screen.
 
Click "Reset browser settings" button.
 
Restart Chrome.

It could be a Syncing issue
Are you Syncing Chrome with other devices.?
To remove it you will have to reset the Sync in Chrome.

If this fails,

:step1: Remove Chrome from your Computer and reinstall a fresh copy later.

:step2: Before you remove Chrome Export your Bookmarks
Chrome will export your bookmarks as a HTML file, which you can then import into another browser.

:step3: If you sync you account you must remove it before you save your bookmarks etc...
Delete Your Google Chrome Browser Sync Data if you sync with other defices.

Hi,

 

SO i didn't follow those steps because yesterday Malwarebytes popped up with a message saying that it had blocked a few pups. I have attached the summary file it produced here. Since then I haven't had a recurrence of the issue, after multiple restarts and resyncing chrome. Everything seems to be okay for now, so thank you for your help

Hi,

 

Thats not what i was referring to, it find a potentially unwanted propgram, not just blocking a website. It's resolved.

its not 'always' finding anything. It found it once, removed it, and there is no longer a problem.
