IE homepage blanked, wallpaper blanked, Malwarebytes service disabled

As the title indicates, I turned on my computer to discover that my wallpaper had changed to a blank screen, IE's homepage had been changed to about:blank, and I could not get Malwarebytes to run as the Malwarebytes service had been disabled.  I was able to reactivate Malwarebytes and ran it in safe mode, and found no infections.  Trend Micro also showed no infections when run in normal mode.  Is there anything else I should be doing to determine if there is a remaining infection on my computer? Edit: This is on Windows 7.

Did you run tools and remove malware? This may have caused it.
