Make and Model of the computer and did it come pre-installed with Windows 8.1

Firstly, do you need files off the computer as you said you were going to reformat to factory settings?

Did you use the Media Creation Tool to create a new install disk or USB of Windows 8.1?

Lenovo IdeaPaf N586

I have the factory software set of four CDs that I would like to use to reinstall the system. I do not care about the files on it

I am able to get into bios. There is no system setting for the hard drive to boot anymore. Ugh

Are you saying the HDD is not listed in your BIOS settings?

I would highly recommend you do a clean install of 8.1 using the Media Creation Tool unless there are programs on the 4 disk set you need.

Does the computer have a Novo button as shown in the below link. If the recovery partition is intact then you can do a factory reset.

I do have that button which allows me to access the system bios. However, I am unable to create the media as my son installed Windows professional on it for a trial version and the trial version expired. The recovery partition is now corrupt. When I attempted to run the recovery media, I get an error message.

Its bizarre that it does not recognize the hard drive but it does recognize the EFI network 0. for IPV four and IPv6, which are not bootable

It seems the HDD is no longer detected. What version of Windows 8 was initially on the computer? Home?

I believe the Novo button uses a recovery partition on the hard drive but that would have been wiped during the Pro install.

Download the Media Creation Tool I linked to and create a DVD or USB flash drive to boot from. Boot the DVD/USB and when you get to the screen asking for language Press Shift + F10 to open a command prompt. Type the following commands.

diskpart

list disk

Is your hard drive listed in the output?

I only have an iPad to work off of at this time. Is it possible for you to send me a direct link?

The Media Creation Tool does not work like that. It has to run on a Windows 7 or later computer. There are no direct links for an iso file.

Attached are some pictures of error messages Im receiving. One picture shows the error message I received when I attempted to restore from the CDs with the original factory software. The other picture is of the error message that I received when attempting to boot. Interestingly, if I enable legacy support, reboot, the SATAHDD appears in the boot device priority menu.

In the third image are you saying changing from Legacy to UEFI removes the drive from the boot order?

Edit: Under the Security Heading is SecureBoot enabled or disabled?
