I am not sure which forum this topic belongs in, I might have a two-fold problem? But possibly connected.
When I put a DVD/Cd disk loaded with photos into the DVD drive it takes about 60secs to start (it sometimes takes several attempts to start the drive) or I have to wait for the Red line to move across the top of the screen, although the drive is set for auto start.
once the image icons have loaded, I click “Browse with FastStone” (my free default image viewer) the optical drive starts to spin and all the blank squares photo thumbnails show and then the program starts to fill the thumbnails with images from the disk, the drive spins as the photos load up but after around 10 images are loaded the drive does an emergency stop and the images stop loading.
If I click onto one of the loaded photos to open it I get the “FastStone image viewer has stopped working” message, I am also now getting this message more frequently when I am using my albums, usually when I have been working on my photos for some time it will suddenly give the “Stopped working” message, then I have to press Ctl-Alt+ Del several times and then usually wait quite a long time before the program will close, or force close by rebooting the pc.
Some weeks ago I did uninstall FastStone and cleaned the associated Reg strings with Revo, then downloaded and installed a new version unfortunately with no improvement, I have also tried XnView which did no better, so it might be a computer problem, any ideas for me to try will be most welcome.
