It's worse now, my wireless keyboard isn't recognized and I can't access the Internet. Ran Spybot S&D with updates I downloaded and installed from my USB key and it didn't find a thing. The HDD seems to be fine. Could this be a registry problem?

It's unfortunate that this forum was unable to offer help.

Hi there, sorry for the wait, we're bogged down with requests for help at the moment.

I'm not seeing anything untoward in your log and with the additional problems you mention with your mouse, my first thoughts are that your problem is hardware or software related.

If you still need help with this, maybe you could have a look through your Event Viewer logs for a clue as to what is causing the problems.

Go to Start > Run and type eventvwr to open the Event Viewer.

Look in the Application and System logs for errors (signified by a red circle with a white cross).

Double-click each of these error symbols to reveal more information.

You should find an Event ID number and Source information.

Check out these Event ID errors and related sources here.

Further info on the Event Viewer can be found here.

Le tme know if you find anything.

John,

Thank you very much for your reply and great information. I found literally dozens of faults and warnings all throughout the event logs you said to look in.

With so many faults and so many other problems I'm thinking of just running DBAN and create a clean slate and then load my backup from DVDs.

I've learned quite a bit from this Web site (a donation is on its way). What a great service you all provide.

Thanks again,
John
