We_started_our_relatively_newPC-today._The_welcome_screen_was_a_blue_background_screen_with_the_words:_
"Your_computer_has_been_locked_andBitcoin_payment_must_be_made_to_DJHARTLEY>_Your_files_will_be_locked._

​We_restarted_thepc_andthe_screen_was_gone,_but_now_the_space_bar_does_not_work.(Hence_the_underscores_between_the_words_I_type,_to_separate_them)

​Any_help_or_suggestions_would_be_appreciated.
​We_are_not_tech_people<_so_we_do_not_know_what_to_do.Thank_you>

What you describe sounds more like a scam involving Fake Ransomware or a variation of a screen locker both of which have become increasing common over the past several years.

Fake Ransomware & Screen Lockers typically prohibit victims from accessing their system but most do not actually encrypt data.

How to deal with Fake Ransomware & Screen Lockers
