best cheap way to take something from tv and record to pc, with high quality

i want to move past my vcr

anyway of doing this without having to buy an expensive over 200 dollar personal dvr?

i have spectrum cable right now

Lots of different approaches but many problems too.  I've tried external and internal video capture devices and not found a suitable replacement for the VCR or Tivo box.  Check with Spectrum to see if the have a DVR service as an option, that way you can save shows within their system and retrieve them at your leisure.
