Ever since the latest automatic update for Windows 8.1, I've had Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry crash on me maybe once a day, once every two days if I'm lucky.  I find this error in my event log:

The odd thing is is that when I check my task schedule for my Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry history, it always says the task finished successfully.  No mention of any appcrash or failure.  Does anyone know what's going on?  I've checked SCM and DISM so I know it's not due to a corrupt file, so I'm thinking maybe something in the updates has something to do with this.  Any suggestions?

The compatibility telemetry history is sent to Microsoft in order to monitor performance of Windows.  This application is not essential to Windows 8.1 and can be disabled.

Open the Control Panel and select Action Center, then click/tap on Change Action Center settings.

Click/tap on Custormer Experience Improvement sttings and select No, I don't wate to participate in the program.

Click/tap on Save changes.
