I have an HP Probook 455 g4 laptop and the keyboard has a lag issue. I've already tried system restore. Any other ideas? Btw I have Windows 10 home 64 bit.

What makes you think that you have a hardware problem?

Run a system hardware diagnostics (HP should provide you one) first.

Then,

My, this method is not all advised.

Run any registry cleaner of your choice. (Tune-up Utilities)

Do a clean.

The issue should resolve. Once I did to my friend's system and his keyboard improved (the cleaning was by Tune-Up Utilities so my earlier suggestion).

Second method.

Check with a USB keyboard.

If the issue persists with a USB keyboard, then the culprit might not your keyboard.

Also, update all/any drivers from the website.

Third solution if the second fails.

Also, you can reset the system and check. But this removes all the installed program and/or files.

I advise and others will also - do not use Tuneup Utilties.

If your machine has Lag , what is your CPU showing and Memory usage for starters.....

Or is it only the Keyboard that lags ? and everthing else works fine ?

Everything else is running fine. I have 16 gb of ram. Memory is running at 23 %. CPU % fluctuates between 10 and 40 %. There's 56 background programs running. Maybe that's causing the typing lag?

I already did a reset and that didn't fix anything. I'll run a hardware diagnostics though. Thanks!

These numbers are EXTREMELY high. You might have a hardware problem but more than likely you have a systems problem.

What do you suggest? None of the background processes are eating up any memory. The CPU % has been consistent at around 25%.

Tell us...just how you detected this "lag"...many persons state that such is a problem...I believe it's a problem of perception.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

post-33068-0-86653600-1480692866_thumb.j

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

I noticed it by typing on the Internet and even on Cortana - the first day I got my laptop. The typing is just laggy. Delayed is another way to put it. Sometimes it goes back to normal but throughout the day it randomly becomes laggy again. I'll type something and it won't appear on the screen for like 2 seconds. I don't know how else to describe how I detected it. I'll run that program you suggested.

Windows install date of 20 Feb 2018.

Peak memory for several processes out of line (in excess of 300MB).  I would be inclined to check for malware via Am I Infected forum.

Topic moved to W10 Spt forum, I see no hardware issues evidenced.
