computer is about five months old. one day could not open google.com, since have found that it won't open emule.com, would not open bleeping computer.com but i am able to get into it through dell help and through a post. when you type in www.google.com the ie will say website found waiting for reply will eventually say page is not available. when you type in google if msn.com is on it will stay at msn.com and say done. Have done a norton ghost restore with no results. have done numerous virus, spyware scans, repeated cleansing of internet settings. we have four other computers in this household and have no problem with any of the others they are able to very quickly connect to all the sites I can't. Thank you in advance for any assistance.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Hello jaj39 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. Let's do a little cleanup.

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LanzarL2007] "C:\DOCUME~1\JEFFA~1.JEN\LOCALS~1\Temp\{16F74CD0-B3F8-491B-AA96-40F3F0CF9F16}\{D1DA2BA7-2592-4036-9BB2-DCCABDE8DC1A}\..\..\L2007tmp\Setup.exe" /SETUP:"/l0x0009"
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [BorraT2006TMP] cmd /C RD /s/q "C:\DOCUME~1\JEFFA~1.JEN\LOCALS~1\Temp\L2007tmp\"
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [InstallShieldSetup] C:\PROGRA~1\INSTAL~1\{D1DA2~1\Setup.exe -rebootC:\PROGRA~1\INSTAL~1\{D1DA2~1\reboot.ini -l0x9

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Run CCleaner

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Cheers.

Have been on the phone with dell hardware and software divisions. The software people and I spent 7.5 hours together and they do not believe it is a software problem. The wireless people have told me that the linksys N router that I have is too fast for my wireless card and I am currently using the wireless g router that we had replaced with the N. When the computer is hooked up to the g router I am able to access the sites that I can't access on the N. The four things that you told me to look for were not in the log when I went to look for them. I am wondering if dell support is correct in saying the N router is too fast and not compatable with my system. Thank you again in advance for your assistance.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Hi jaj39. That is very possible and if that is what Dell is saying then that is most likely the case.

The N specification will not be completed until sometime in 2007. What that means is that companies making N-level equipment can pretty much do what they want. There is no guarantee that existing wireless equipment will work with it and even N-equipment from different companies will work togather. It is kind of like a software program that is in a beta release.

If you want to use the N-router then your best bet would be to get an N-capable wireless card from the same company. This will not guarantee that it will work with any specific computer but the chances are better and then you have 1 company's support group to work through any issues encountered.

As for the HijackThis log, it is now clean.

Cheers.
