I was always in airplane mode.  That was the first problem I found.

What is the model number of the HP. You can't connect when in Airplane mode.

Follow the steps in the link I provided. If none of the steps work reinstall the below drivers.

I followed the steps and reinstalled the drivers.  It's still in airplane mode.

There may be a function key on the computer that turns on Wifi. It should be the fn key + F12. Other than that I am out of ideas on this, sorry. I think at this point you are looking at doing a reset or a clean install of Windows 10.

It's an airplane, I've been trying that all along.  Is it possible that whoever had access to his computer did something?  That's when this started.

From your first post it's obvious that your father was infected. You can start a thread in the Virus Removal Section after reading the pinned posts showing what logs to attache. It's possible there was something left behind that is preventing airplane mode from turning off.

Personally, I would go for the reset with the option to keep your files but as I have posted you will need to reinstall all your programs.

I started a new topic.  He won't do that.  I still have hope we can get the virus off the PC.  Thank you though.

Hello,

Now that you have posted a log here: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/670691/hpwindows-10-wont-go-online/ you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team.

Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
