Hi,

On Thursday 1 February I used PatchMyPC Updater to do a fresh install of Format Factory, Free Studio and to update LibreOffice on my Windows 7 Pro PC.  I use Avast and Malwarebytes (free versions) and did not get any warnings at the time.

The following day I started getting warnings from Avast.  I was concerned so I ran numerous Malwarebytes and Avast scans and found several severe malware items, which were quarantined.  I'm hoping that will be the last and that I am not going to see more.  Here are examples of some of the detections:

  • Trojan.BitCoinMiner
  • Trojan.MalPack
  • Win64:Evo-gen [Susp]
  • Win64-Malware-gen

Could the infections have come from the Format Factory installation?  I had a look on its web site below and the first download link looks suspicious.  Please be aware that I did not download from a web site, it was installed through a silent install with PatchMyPC Updater.

Can anyone confirm if any serious malware could come from this link?

Previous to this incident, I have had no virus/malware problems with my PC in over 4 years of use.

Thanks.

The first link on the page above goes to cyclebundlebinaries.com.

On VirusTotal, 2 engines detected cyclebundlebinaries.com as malware.

Is this actually malicious?  Why is cyclebundlebinaries.com being used?  Thanks for your help.
