It looks like fake ransomware is stopping Malwarebytes & Firefox from starting.

Hi All,  I got a pop up message, that locked my computer and demanded a fee to unlock it.  Now, Malwarebytes & Firefox will not start, click on either and the hour glass starts and then goes away in 5-6 seconds.  Any advice would be welcome.   Thanks in advance.  Kenny

What is the name of that ransomware?

Maybe a screenshot of it?

Hi Broni,   I did not catch the name of it.  No screen shot.  Sorry.    Malwarebytes Pro will run in "safe mode" finds nothing, but will not run otherwise.  Any suggestions as to what I could try.

So, I'm assuming that the message came up only once, correct?

Try to reinstall Malwarebytes and we'll go from there.

I Downloaded Mbam ok, clicked on it to run.   It opens to setup, click to install,  just sets there, no action at all. does not install, and freezes on screen, but lets me work around it.   The Old Mbam pro is still on computer, but still will not run.

down loaded this:  mb3-setup-SEM100.SEM100-3.3.1.2183-1.0.262-1.0.3374    (mbam 10 day free try out.)  Will not load.

Down loaded this too:  Mbar-1.09.3.1001  Mbar anti-rootkit.    ( It will not run either.)

Well, you should uninstall old version first.
Then...
Download and run this utility to remove MBAM leftovers.
Then, download and install fresh copy.
