Hi. I'd like to ask you guys on the forum here if you had any good choice for some upgrades for my computer. It's getting somewhat old now and really dont run games too good anymore. I play games like Rust, PUBG, CSGO; League and ARK. Mainly the 2 first. So i was wondering if u could just give me your opininon for upgrades on my computer at around that price range. I'm a very cheap person so i dont need the most extreme of gaming accessories, but something that runs fine would be amazing. Here are my specs.

AMD AM3 + FX - 8370E

MSI AM3 + 970 GAMING

HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz 8GB Black

Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB TRI-X OC !!

Any help would be appreciated! :')

For CPU upgrade you would need new motherboard and RAM.

So basically you'll new new computer except you perhaps can use video card, hard drive and possibly case.

What PSU?

My PSU is;

Cooler Master G650M, 650W PSU?

Not too sure but that's what the box says.

Are u sure the RAM wont do in another pc? I dont have much knowledge about it but it seems decent enough as i havent encountered any direct RAM related

And thanks for the tip MadmanRB

I think you could do a great build for $800.

Check out PCPartPicker and play around with configuring a system and the estimated price of the parts.  https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

You start with the CPU, and it will list components such as the mobo, etc., that are compatible.   A great way to discover what you can do with your budget!

As was mentioned earlier, GPU prices are insane right now.  Seems that the coin miners are buying up the available high end GPUs in bulk.  You may want to hold off on a GPU upgrade for a while, but it is possible that an older model GPU or a refurb could get you by for now.  I use a nVidia GTX950 that runs games well from a few years ago in ultra mode on a HD 1080 screen.  The newest game that I run on that is Fallout 4 from 2015, and it runs very well.

PSU is OK.

New motherboard require DDR4 so DDR3 is somewhat useless if you need to build new system. You probably can sell it for good price though.

Well just wait and hopefully this mess will get fixed, its just not as good time to build a gaming PC right now or do upgrades.

Maybe in 90 days but not now.

Besides, in 90 days, Zen+ will be out and hopefully the GPU and RAM situation will not be quite as bad.

Alright so imma bump this thread because i've really grown tired of the fps issues im currently struggling with. So yeah, if anyone has any tips or anything feel free to share. Absolutely anything is much appreciated. I realized i havent been very responsive aswell so i will try to be more responsive now. I really suck in anything regarding pc components so if someone has any direct tips about what i should upgrade to that would fit my current gaming situation that would be great. It's mostly ARK that i will play in the future.

Thanks in

Price range of all the components would be around 1k. Pref lower.

B350-based mainboard ($80-$90)

R5-1600 ($189)

GTX1060 ($435 on Amazon) or GTX1050 for $170 (naturally, the former will last longer at 1080P)

16 GB DDDR4-3200 ($150)

Good luck!

It does. You'll be fine with much cheaper video card. Something like Radeon RX550 should be more than enough.

As would the existing R9-290 presumably.  It's still a powerful graphics card - far more so than the RX 550 or GTX 1050.  FWIW they sell used for good money too (over $200 on average).

So i should keep the graphics card? Or am i unable to?'

And if i were to, wouldnt that be less performance efficient than a new one?
