My Gigabyte board has three Thunderbolt ports, I have read they a the same as USB3 C and run at 10 gig a second.  What that all means is geek talk to me, not that I need more connections having 8 USB 3, 3 USB 2, eSata plus the 3 Thunderbolt ports and HDMI but am curious about other possible uses.  I read that Apple dropped the Thunderbolt displays for reasons unknown as they had exceptional performance.  I am thinking about a new monitor and GPU, ar there still TB monitors available?
