I am considering the purchase of an external 250GB 3.5" disk. How would you rate Mevis compared to Western Digital? I never heard of Mevis before.

googled Mevis and mevis external hard drive

google went clank, and I have never heard of them

I would just go with wd or seagate.
The name says it all -- 59 and holding permanently

I would recommend Seagate as it is the only hard drives that have a five year warranty.

I just bought a WD MyBook Essential 500 gB and it worked just fine.

But, I agree with Enthusiast on the warranty issue - the only one is Seagate!

Thanks for the info.

In the meantime, I found out it's a Swissbuilt hard Disk. It's called StoreX on www.mevis.ch
