Display driver failed to start. Display driver failed to start; using Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead. Check Windows Update for a newer display driver.

I've gotten this error message twice.  What does this mean?  How do I fix it?

Thanks

The display driver may be corrupt.  To determine if this is the case please do the following.

Press the Windows key OS4o0pO.png  and the X key to open the Quick Link Menu.

Select Device Manger from the quick link menu.

When you open the Device Manager you may see yellow warning icons or red error icons, these would be indications of corrupt drivers.  We are going to assume that these drivers are corrupt and replace them

Click/tap on Display adapters, then double click on the Intel adapter.

You will see a image similar to the one below, click/tap on Driver.

Attached File  display driver.PNG   18.92KB   0 downloads

Click/tap on Uninstall Device to uninstall the Intel driver, then click/tap on OK.

Restart the computer.  When the computer is restarted a new driver will be installed.

Let us know if this resolves the driver issue.

Followed the instructions.  If you don't hear from me, assume it worked!  If not, I'll be back in touch.  Thanks for saving me time, worry and money!
