Friends computer; windows 7
She received call from someone claiming to b from Microsoft and says they were in her computer ( she probably gave them access) and now her computer will not let her log in at the welcome screen with her password
She has gotten 6 or 7 calls from diff numbers all claiming to be from Microsoft; last one today was from windows, and now she realized she should not talk to them
Computer is still locked even in safe mode
Any hope for her?

The following is to enable the local hidden Administrator Account. On another computer download Lazesoft Windows Recover My Password Home.

http://www.lazesoft.com/forgot-windows-admin-password-recovery-freeware.html

Run the program and it will create either a bootable USB flash drive or CD. Boot the CD or USB flash drive. You can enable the Hidden Administrator Account using the following guide.

http://www.lazesoft.com/how-to-recover-administrator-password.html

Once the Administration Account is enabled by pressing reset/unlock remove the CD or USB and reboot. You should be presented with an Administrator Account in addition to the normal user account. Login to it and reset the password in Control Panel > Users. This is a safer approach than trying to reset the User account directly.

If the above does not work it may be possible to copy the backup registry hives in Regback to the config folder allowing you to login normally but try the above first.
