Error while updating Start Menu

While installing a program I get the following error message:

Error while updating Start Menu...

My O/S is Windows 10

I did a lot of research but could not find a solution.

Can anybody help ?

Try this:


1) Add "take ownership" to your context menu (https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3841-add-take-ownership-context-menu-windows-10-a.html)

2) Take ownership of the start menu for All Users (c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu)

3) If you are installing the app for just yourself, you'll need to take ownership of YOUR start menu (c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\microsoft\start men)


Then installing the app - let's see if this helps.
