- Im 15 and know essentially nothing to do with computers.
- Ive had this computer since I was about 11.
- I have a genuine copy of windows.
Around 12th December 2016, I was stupid and thought Id download a random file off of the internet. It turns out, this random file gave me a bleep ton of adware and I instantly panicked. My dad would kill me if he found out I did this, so Im hoping its nothing to do with this. Im pretty sure it was just adware, but just adding it in for the possibility. I rebooted into safe mode, deleted the files, stopped them for starting at start up and it was fixed (I hope). I had two unrecognised names in my task manager; vnlgp.exe and gpylra.exe.
Fast forward to maybe spring time 2017 (could even be closer to summer, I cant remeber exactly when), I started getting pop ups from window activation technologies telling me that my windows isnt genuine. As you can tell, Im kind of an idiot so I just ignored it hoping itd go away. I cant remember whether I did anything for this to happen, but Im pretty sure I didnt. Shortly before this, I had to move my computer, and when I got it back to its original position, it wouldnt shut down properly when I turned it off. Itd be stuck on the updating screen, so I had to manually turn it off. Even to this day, although it does turn off by itself, it downloads updates every time i turn it off. I have just let it turn off by itself but these updates dont seem to be actually working - and Im being told this, in the action center (windows modules installer cbspackageservicingfailure2, which last fail was today when i turned on my computer, and Host process for windows service, which last fail was also today). Tbf, my computer has been working alright on a separate user to my own (which is very slow now, although i do have a lot of stuff on there) until today, where i logged on and I cant open certain programs.
It gives me this error - the instruction at 0x76f98c47 referenced memory at 0x000000c. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program.
Ive scanned the computer multiple times using msert, windows defender and other anti-virus programs and nothing has come up.
Does anyone have an idea whats going on?
Should I just backup all my important data and reinstall windows altogether?
(update- found a program called activate windows and it told me activation was successful so im not sure whether its right.)
