Firefox memory woes ...or possibly a failing hard drive?

Well, after almost 2 weeks of inactivity, I’m reluctantly beginning to conclude that my original helper(s) have bailed on me.

Anybody else with experience in Firefox browser slowdowns willing to take up the reins?


UPDATE: I may’ve also been seeing signs of impending hard drive woes – Don’t worry, everything is freshly backed up – so I’m wondering if A) those might be consistent with the symptoms I’m experiencing; and B) whether replacing the drive, alone, might be enough to fix my problem.
