My 6 year old windows 7 pc is in need of an upgrade and I have built a new pc to which I installed windows 10. I have been having a lot of issues in getting shared folders accessible by other pc's in the network.

Today it worked, however, I can only connect when the folder I shared (using advanced sharing -> permissions -> user names) includes "everyone" in the allowed users list. On my windows 7 pc, I only allowed specific users for a shared folder and never "everyone".

If I only include a specific user and connect from a different pc I get an "access denied"-type message, even when I "connect using different credentials" and enter valid user & pass and also when I am logged in with the same user & pass combo on the remote pc as on the win10 pc that has the shared folder.

I am totally confused and help is welcome :)
