I can not get the WIndows 10 Search Service to start. SInce it will not start I can not search in Outlook. I own a computer repair shop and have several customers that are starting to have the same problem.

Any suggestions are welcome.

How many of your clients have the Fall Update 1709 installed on their computers?

Do any of these clients use MS Office?

There are a lot of people posting complaints about the Authors Fall Update 1709 causing Outlook Express to have problems.  The majority of the posts I've read this problem has been resolved by doing a Office repair.  Go figure...

Yes all customers have Outlook. But outlook search does not work because Windows Search Service will not start. I tried repairing office but that does not fix anything.

Did you check out the Remote Procedure Call service?   This is its only dependency for the Windows Search service.

Yes it is running. Windows search wont start because it acts like it is in use with another program. I have tried to adjust settings with Cortona because I thought that was causing the issue. Nothing helps

I have download the windows media tool and reinstalled Windows preserving personal files and settings.

A fresh install will probably fix the problem but I really want to try to avoid that.

3. You will now have the option to Keep my files or Remove everything.  Click/tap on the option you want.

4. You will now receive the message Getting things ready, Windows will list the programs which you will need to reinstall.  You may find it beneficial to copy these programs for a reference later.  When the list of programs is shown click/tap on Next.

5. You will now receive the message Ready to reset this PC, select Reset.

The installation will continue without any need to make any other selections.
