Hi,

I've been trying for days but haven't been able to solve this annoying issue.  When I start my PC. it passes the BIOS and the boot up process but when it gets to the loading screen (windows logo and the circling dots), it takes about 10 minutes to get to the login screen.

Initially I didn't think this was a hardware problem so I backed up everything and did a clean reinstall of windows 10.  Unfortunately this did not stop the issue.  After further reading online I decided to check my device manager and saw that all my USB 2.0 ports no longer have the drivers installed, however my USB 3.0 ports are working fine.

I tried to update the drivers and have windows search for them automatically, it finds the drivers but then has an issue installing them.  I tried to uninstall the drivers and restart the PC (waiting 10 minutes in between for the startup), hoping that windows will now be able to install the drivers but no luck...

I have attached screenshots and my PC specs are below, I am at a loss and need whatever help I can get.

Thanks in advance :)

The only thing I can think of is either the USB 2 controller is bad or the USB 2 controller in your BIOS settings was somehow disabled. Perhaps if it does show as enabled try disabling. Reboot into BIOS and enable them again. See page 58 of the manual.

Edit: you can verify if the USB 2 controller is bad by booting a live linux DVD like Mint Cinnamon. Burn the iso to a DVD by right clicking the iso and selecting Burn Disk Image. Boot the DVD and do not input anything until at the Desktop. Click the Computer icon. Your Devices are shown in the left pane. Attach a USB flash drive to one of your USB 2 ports. If detected the device will mount and you will see a USB icon appear in the left pane. If the USB flash drive is detected then perhaps Window's drivers have an issue with your particular USB controller though I would not know why.

Your motherboard has no official support for windows 10. Don't trust the windows update drivers. Gigabyte offers chipset drivers for win7 X64 from here. It might work.

The X58A-UD9 has a ICH10R Southbridge. Doing some googling it seems this chipset and Windows 10 go together like oil and water but nothing regarding USB ports being non-functional. Hopefully the OP will post back an update.
