amazon was recommending this logitech device the g920 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-C920-Pro-1080p-Webcam/dp/B006A2Q81M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514759530&sr=8-1&keywords=skype+webcam&refinements=p_72%3A419153031

but i read the 1star reviews and some1 says the newer version of skype causes resolution on that to drop from 1080p ,,they say..The camera itself supports excellent hardware compressed video and its a really nice piece of kit. But if you buy this for using with skype then your callers will be disappointed. The new NGC video compression that skype insists on using doesn't use the camera's built in hardware compression and degrades back to 640x480 with software compression. This is laggy, blurry and doesn't sync properly with the audio.

It is possible to force skype to revert back to the older SILK codec by deleting one of its files but SILK isn't supported by many other skype clients, for example Skype for android so if you do that you can't call them.

This product should stop being advertised as compatible with skype for high definition because that combination no longer works but this is all due to negative changes which microsoft have made to skype. This is no fault of logitech's

so in 2018 what 1080p or better webcam should i buy to use with skype on a windows 10 pc ? thanks for any help

and happy new year !
