can't go online using live cd on Mac

I have an old mac

iMac 7.1  with OSX10.4.11 .   One GB memory. I can get Ubuntu 16.04 to load from live CD  (desktop looks OK) but it won't go online. I can also load puppy linux (tahr pup) but it won't go online . Any advice gratefully received!

Probably a wifi card inside that hates linux, typical Apple malarkey.


You could always get a external wifi dongle of some kind like this one:

Thanks for replies . I am trying to go on;ine using a wired connection . I do not want to use wireless.
