I've been using Antergos for the past few weeks, and I like it a lot. I was looking for a minimal GNOME installation and this seemed to be a good fit.

My first attempts to install Antergos some months ago included 3 failures on 2 different computers. It was likely the installer at the time because I've had no trouble with the current version.

I prefer minimal installations and this downloaded less than 1 GB of packages. The only selections I made were the GNOME desktop and the Chromium web browser.
The result is a simple, clean, attractive OS.

Has anyone else here tried Antergos? Or thought about trying it?

Which desktop will you choose?

Quidsup on YouTube has declared the KDE version as his favorite distro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmfCBNeGauk

Its cinnamon offering isnt too bad either.

Actually Antergos is a jack of all trades as all of its desktops offer something good.

Antergos is okay with me.

Choosing a desktop is one of the best things about Linux, but can also be one of the more difficult.
I've tried all the major DEs. I went through a KDE phase and an Xfce phase.

There was a time when I might have stalled at the Antergos DE selection screen while I tried to decide.
But these days I just go straight for GNOME.

That looks great, Nick. Did you need to do much tweaking to achieve what you wanted?

Its quite light for KDE have a look at system resources widgets.

I was going to ask about the theme. I'm not sure I've seen it before.

Regarding the system resources - Quidsup seems to be a big KDE fan, and I think he was impressed by the speed of KDE in Antergos.

BTW I won't show my desktop because there's little point. I haven't actually changed anything from the defaults, not even the wallpaper.

Maybe your efforts will inspire me to do something about that.

It seems fast enough to me on this old machine, I might try it on my i5 4GiB ram and SSD.

For me the only reason why I dont use antergos is that its too close to arch pure.

I like manjaro as they offer older kernels  and a balanced setup, antergos is nice but arch pure does have its drawbacks

philbo, why don't you show the desktop? Maybe some of us who hasn't seen Antergos may want to give it a shot, you'd be getting the word out there. Most all distro maintainers wants to see uploaded images of their desktop that's not the work of a copycat uploading images found on the Web, even if not on their official forum, that's free advertising for them & beneficial to us. :thumbup2:

After all, we're family here! :)

Thanks for your interest, Cat, but I'm actually in the process of closing this account. I'm just waiting on a PM from one of the moderators.
Apparently I registered here shortly after another Australian was banned and there are people here who believe we are the same person.
I'm not interested in trying to prove I'm not someone else so I'll be leaving.

In response to your query, I wasn't kidding when I said I hadn't altered the desktop. It looks exactly as it did on first boot.
I like the Numix theme and icons, and I couldn't find a wallpaper that I liked more than the default.

Best of luck, Cat. Have a great 2018.
