So I finally decided to update to build 1703, the Creator's update, as I can defer the update no longer. I try to update, and.......... "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1703 - Error 0x80070005"

Can someone help me get around this? I don't want to update to the Fall Creator's update yet, although that is similarily failing.

Currently I'm on Windows 10 Pro 1511, on the Boot Camp partition of my Macbook Pro.

Thank you for your help!

The Windows 10 updates are cumulative, I would suggest going straight to the Authors Fall Update 1709.  This update has corrections for previous update problems.

You can download the Fall Update 1709 here.

Thank you for the reply, however, the Fall Update similarly fails. Same error, too.

Please do the following.

Reset Update Components

Open Notepad and copy and paste the batch script below in it.  Save this to the Desktop and name it UCReset.bat.

@ECHO OFF
echo Simple Script to Reset / Clear Windows Update
echo.
PAUSE
echo.
attrib -h -r -s %windir%\system32\catroot2
attrib -h -r -s %windir%\system32\catroot2\*.*
net stop wuauserv
net stop CryptSvc
net stop BITS
ren %windir%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old
ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\application data\Microsoft\Network\downloader" downloader.old
net Start BITS
net start CryptSvc
net start wuauserv
echo.
echo Task completed successfully...
echo.
PAUSE

To run the batch script right click on the UCReset.bat file on the desktop and select Run as administrator.

Restart your computer and try updating again.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
