Windows 7 language pack / updates not installing (Error 800b0100)!

Hey all,

Been tinkering with this laptop, I just installed a fresh copy of W7 Ult, and was looking to put Chinese display language on there. At first all the updates were working out fine, but now I've hit a roadblock...

My language pack doesn't install, and just spits out the 800b0100 error code. No other windows updates install either..

Here's what I did:

Scoured the internet

chkdsk /r

sfc /scannow

Update Readiness Tool

Easyfix 50202

Reset update components

Tried downloading the language pack from a website and installing it that way (both exe, and the lp file)

I feel like I've done everything under the sun and still can't get the thing to install this language pack.

Any advice?

The 800b0100 error code translates to:

PS C:\> [ComponentModel.Win32Exception]0x800b0100
No signature was present in the subject

Is this a legitimate copy of Windows? Please provide me with an MGADiag report.

  • Download and save MGADiag from here.
  • Navigate to the directory where you saved the file.
  • Right-click on MGADiag.exe, select Run as administrator, and accept any User Account Control prompts.
  • Click Continue.
  • Click Copy.
  • Paste the copied information in your next reply.

It was the version of windows in the system restore volume of the laptop, but laptop is an old Chinese one (I wasn't  the original purchaser). So my guess is it isn't.

I regret to say this, but you are indeed running a pirated copy of Windows. Illegal copies of Windows are known to cause myriads of problems; hence it is not surprising that you are getting Windows Update errors. And if I were to provide further help to you, that would be in violation of our forum rules:

No subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures. If a user persists and/or the activity is obviously illegal the staff reserves the right to remove such content and/or ban the user. This would also mean encouraging the use or continued use of pirated software is not permitted, and subject to the same consequences.

I would suggest you purchase a legal license of Windows 7.
