First, what is going on with Firefox and Java? I am using Chrome, which I hate, but I can't log on here without Java. How could Firefox do this? And WHY?

My main problem is about ports.

I'm badly infected, but with arduous effort, I have  reduced the situation.
One major obstacle is that some malware is able to access my PC through ports.
I have W7. Can someone tell me how I can find where my ports can be accessed? The bad guys can do it easily, but I can't. Why does W7 make it almost impossible to configure its ports?
Please tell me how, and I'll be a happy camper.

This re quest should not have been moved here. I KNOW I'm infected, The question was how to access  configuration of the ports on W7. It was a question about my OS.

Since I'm here now, can someone please help me access ports on W7?

And I also asked about Java on Firefox. I can't be the only person who objects to not having Java in Firefox. Can anyone explain?
