Hi all!

Nowadays, protection against ransomware is more important than ever before, as this is the malware authors' most profitable way to make revenue.

As such, more and more malware authors create ransomware, and necessarily, the threat landscape is constantly shifting.

So, in order to combat this, several small and / or less-known security software companies have created stand-alone anti-ransomware tools.

Nonetheless, the big and well-known Emsisoft, Malwarebytes and Zemana have also implemented anti-ransomware protection modules in their respective security solutions.

And hence, my question is as follows;

Will Emsisoft, Malwarebytes & Zemana make stand-alone anti-ransomware obsolete?

Thank you very much in advance!

Regards,

Obsolete, i don't think so; redundant probably.

Hi, Umbra!

Thank you for the prompt and insightful reply! :)

Yes, of course I meant redundant; not obsolete. :blink:

It is nice that users no longer need to deal with less-known stand-alone anti-ransomware tools and now instead can invest in well-known security solutions.

We are all aware that a comprehensive security setup consists of multi-layered anti-virus and anti-malware (now including anti-ransomware and anti-exploit).

  • Emsisoft Anti-Malware features: Surf Protection, File Guard, Behavior Blocker and Anti-Ransomware
  • Malwarebytes 3 Premium features: Web Protection, Exploit Protection, Malware Protection and Ransomware Protection
  • Zemana AntiMalware features: Advanced Malware Detection and Removal, Effective Against Rootkits and Bootkits, Browser Cleanup, Real Time Protection, Ransomware Protection and Pandora Real Time Analysis Technology

Thank you very much for the help! :)
