So, I've used ad aware from lavasoft and it doesn't seem to find this stuff. I also can't get rid of it with Norton. I click on hijackthis's fix option, but when I restart the computer, all of the stuff I got rid of is back. I'll post the current hjt log, and then I'll restart and post that one.

Here is the log after I logged back on. I'm pretty lost here and could use any help that might be given. I just don't really know what is the culprit here. Obviously the stuff that sats "find4u.net" is not good, and all the weird search and porn sites aren't good, but how do I get rid of them? Also, I don't really know how to edit the registry. thanks!

oh, one more thing. I should probably mention the behavior of everything. before I "fix" in hjt, the browser will not load up google and sometimes displays a "website unavailable" and sometimes just redirects me somewhere else. Also, in Explorer, it has changed find4u.net into my default homepage. once the "fixes are done, this is all fixed and everything behaves. one other thing, when I'm not in the room, often at night, a page called mrdrocher.com tries to load up.

Keep in miind I am no expert but I do see some things that you need to correct.
You need to delete all those R1, R0 and 01 entries.
Scan again in safe mode and tick them, make sure all other apps are closed.
Then click fix.
Reboot and rescan and hopefully they should be gone.
But that net4you was everywhere.

i also check that mrdrocher.com and found their server is located in China.

Good luck

Steve

thanks. that is pretty much what I've done except for the safe mode thing. I'll try that when I get home tonight.
