When listening to things on my windows 10 laptop, certain sounds (e.g. a gunshot or breaking glass etc) trigger high pitched noise to be played through headphones, or if they are unplugged through the speaker.

The high pitched noises can be made louder or quieter through the volume controls.

The sound is not always the same pitch, sometimes very loud, sometimes inaudible but painful. This has been happening for over a year.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
