I had mistakenly posted this in the wrong forum, so here goes again...

Windows XP

Whenever I type a URL directly into the address line my IE crashes and forces me to exit.

I can access any site via a search engine, usually Yahoo, I just cannot type an address in directly.

I am not sure exactly when this started, maybe a month or two ago, and have not done anything to try and fix it yet. I run Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, and Avast anti-virus. The Avast has only been on for a couple weeks, and this problem pre-dates its installation. I used Norton before that.

Any ideas would be most welcome. Thanks.

The first thing to try would be a repair of Internet Explorer. It's easy, but time-consuming. Just uninstall Service Pack 2 and then visit Windows Update to reinstall it.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
