Would this be a possible good idea?
-- bring into action the built-in administrator account, have a strong password (written in your forehead)
-- either convert existing normally used user account into a Standard account, or, create a Standard Acct with a strong password
-- bring into action the built-in Guest account. That is quite restrictive. Naturally, no password is really needed
Your laptop borrowers use only the Guest acct; you use the other two.
Now, you have a learning curve - how does one use the Admin acct to tweak the Guest acct to perform the way you want the Guest acct to perform. Whether you can restrict uploads, downloads - I don't know.
I have the above three accounts on my two laptops; however, I have never tried to tweak the Guest acct yet.
