So here is my situation. I recently moved to a small town, and switched internet service providers. With my old provider I used to get around 20 Mbps, and now I am supposedly getting 100-150 Mbps, but recently my internet has literally slowed to a crawl. It can take upwards of 30 seconds to a minute just to load a basic web page. I figured it was ISP problems, as they have had some issues in the past every now and then. Then just within the last couple months I started get BOSD crashes, which for me was very rare, if non-existent. I thought it was a driver problem with my graphics card, so I uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled new ones. Now today I noticed the charms bar wasn't showing up (I'm using Windows 8.1), so I googled it and found that Microsoft said to do some scan with command prompt using the command "sfc /scannow"
After the scan and a quick search I found your website and after finding some similar problems and suggestions it is a virus I got worried. So anyway I thought I would post and see if I could possibly get some help.
I use AVG Antivirus Free, MalwareBytes, and just recently installed ZoneAlarm Firewall.
I have done numerous scans with AVG and MalwareBytes but everything comes back fine. I did a HijackThis scan and didn't find anything unusual, either. I also recently started a free trial of AVG PC TuneUp and did a scan, it found a bunch of registry things (as well as some other things) and supposedly fixed them.
I have done everything I can think of, but am stumped. Between the rediculously slow internet, crashes and now the charms bar not showing up I am really getting worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to be thorough.
