I have a custom build running windows 7 Pro,

everything working perfectly fine, no issues, no malware/viruses

i have automatic updates turned on, and the computer has been updating until now,

i noticed there were no updates for awhile so i tried to check manually > control panel > windows update,

i get the red shield symbol that says "always install latest updates" blah blah,

i clicked on the button "check for updates"

it comes up and says "windows update can not check for updates, because the service is not running, restart your computer"

i restarted and i get the same issue,

i go to msconfig, click on the services tab and the windows update service IS RUNNING!

i check for updates and install them almost ever day, so this issue obviously just happened recently,

any easy fix here?....or should i just do a system restore a few days prior?
